White Cargo

Felicity Kendal's upbringing was, to say the least, unusual. She joined her father's theatre company backstage in a basket at the age of three weeks and toured all over India for the next 17 years. It was a glorious nomadic existence, with no home, no formal education and no roots of any kind. The play was the thing and security came from the close bond between her family and a group of eccentric actors, as they lived in the real India, sharing its palaces and its poverty. WHITE CARGO is about that extraordinary time and how it has affected everything in Kendal's life. It has been a charmed life but, as we discover, a little beneath the surface there is also another truth.
